APX Series sejak mulai diperkenalkan telah menjadi pemimpin terdepan dalam produk akustik elektrik gitar. Kemudahan dalam memainkannya membuat produk ini sangat tepat untuk pertunjukan gitar. Bentuk badannya yang tipis, membuatnya sangat nyaman untuk dimainkan, sementara desain 'cut-away'-nya, memudahkan kita untuk memainkan nada-nada pada fret yang tinggi. Desainnya juga membuat transisi dari gitar elektrik akan terasa halus.
Gitar seri APX dirancang dengan fokus pada permainan. Bentuknya yang
tipis dan potongannya yang memberikan akses upper fret yang hebat,
memberikan perubahan yang lancar antara listrik dan alat musik akustik.
Rancangan APX yang kuat memberikan respon sempurna dengan cakupan nada
sedang dan tinggi yang tebal. Tambahan lainnya, bersama dengan permainan
APX yang luar biasa, mampu untuk dimainkan secara utama dengan lancar.
APX900 & APX700 menggunakan Sistem pickup Yamaha, A.R.T. (Acoustic
Resonance Transducer) , yang menggunakan dua tambahan sub pickup untuk
mengontrol overtune dan resonansi.

Unique multilayer structure achieves optimum dynamic balance.
Yamaha acoustic-electric guitars have consistently used piezoelectric pickups to repdoduce the pure sounds of the acoustic guitar. But piezoelectric pickups tended to overreact to changes in attack, which in turn caused distortion. To achive ideal playability, we had to improve the way that these dynamics were controlled. To provide a solution to this issue, the new pickup was designed with a multilayer structure consisting of six layers of different materials. This dampens excessive vibration from the topboard while picking up small resonances to achieve ideal sensitivity and outstanding dynamic balance. Also, because the pickup is fi tted directly beneath the topboard, it functions as a transducer attached to the body.

In addition to two main pickups mounted under the saddle, this system has one each on the bass and treble sides to capture the vibrations of the entire length of the strings and body, as well as the sound's bass and treble components. The pickups are laid out in such a way as to achieve clear reproduction even during high-position soloing.

Controls for the under bridge mounted piezo pickup are mounted on the
instrument's side for optimum access. The battery compartment is also
located on the side, close to the neck, to provide easy replacement.

Preamp Systems (System55T) for APX500
This is a tuner-equipped version of System55. The chromatic tuner is
accurate,easy to use and easy to view. You can use the tuning mode by
pressing a single button even if you have no cable connected. Turning
the tuner on or off will not affect the output in any way. The tuner
also comes with a one-minute auto-off timer to save battery power.
